Pistons

First and foremost, we have been dedicating countless hours and resources toward our cleaning, polishing, and storage processes since the day we opened the doors. Having been in many shops as well as “parts businesses” over the years, I knew from day one that I wouldn’t be willing to settle for the way things have always been done. So, while most parts businesses list it dirty and throw it on a shelf to rust, we spend hours every day preparing each and every part , then carefully oiling and often wrapping the parts one at a time so you can be sure that what you see in the picture is what you receive.

Pistons go through about a 2 hour process before they even reach the listing table. First, the rings are removed and every piston is ultrasonically cleaned. This is a deep cleaning process that removes the majority of the carbon and dirt from the part and because ultrasonic cleaning is so thorough, it generally does a fantastic job on the ring grooves as well. After ultrasonic cleaning, the piston is placed in a centrifugal polisher with a porcelain media and the polisher spins the part at about 7,000 RPM’s for between 20 and 30 minutes. This produces a clean, shiny surface without removing the heat treatment from the part. That is why our pistons look like new, with the carbon removed. Essentially, they’re in like new condition at that point. Most importantly, it gives us a surface that can be truly inspected. Every piston is gone over for any wear that would inhibit the performance of the part. With the exception of minor surface blemishes, any piston that shows a scratch, ding, or wear is immediately discarded.

When you order a piston from us, you can count on it being in flawless condition, or very close to it.
