Gears and Clutch Dogs

First and foremost, we have been dedicating countless hours and resources toward our cleaning, polishing, and storage processes since the day we opened the doors. Having been in many shops as well as “parts businesses” over the years, I knew from day one that I wouldn’t be willing to settle for the way things have always been done. So, while most parts businesses list it dirty and throw it on a shelf to rust, we spend hours every day preparing each and every part , then carefully oiling and often wrapping the parts one at a time so you can be sure that what you see in the picture is what you receive.

Every gear is removed and centrifugally polished. This is an extremely high speed cleaning operation that rotates the parts at about 7000 RPM’s in a soap mixture and porcelain or ceramic media for the purpose of deburring, cleaning, and polishing. The result of this are clean, brightly polished gears. Most importantly, this process allows a proper inspection of the teeth, clutch plates, and bearing surfaces on a gear. Our inspection process is stringent. While light wear on clutch plates is normal in a used gear, it's very important to buy gears with essentially perfect teeth and bearing surfaces so we go over these very carefully. We picture gears very closely so you can know exactly what you are ordering. After listing, each gear or clutch dog is oiled and wrapped for storage.
