The difference in the 2 units is that they have different gear ratios. The 2 units are interchangeable but may require you to change propellers in order to maintain the same speeds your boat would do before. So, in short-this unit is for 100 115 125 HP 4 cylinders from 1987-1997. It will look and fit identically with the 75-90 HP 3 cylinder models in the same year, but the gear ratio is different.
